You will no doubt have noticed that I have only published one long-form essay in the last six weeks. Please know that I have been working on two new book projects and a new publishing venture. I probably have a couple more weeks of writing to finish at least one of the books. When I get back to writing long-form essays for the Substack, I plan to do an essay on radical environmentalism in the government schools and series of essays on what education in America would look like if there were no government schools.
The Good
VERY COOL: Miner unearths nearly complete mummified baby woolly mammoth in Canada
A young miner called for backup when his front-end loader unexpectedly struck something in the Canadian permafrost last week on the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
Roughly 67 miles east of the Alaskan border in Yukon's Eureka Creek, the miner, who was originally searching for gold, uncovered a whole mummified baby woolly mammoth, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported.
Scientists hailed the find as one of the "most important" paleontological discoveries ever made in North America.

Sri Lanka is in a last-ditch effort to stave off economic collapse after an allegedly climate-friendly ban on artificial fertilizers devastated one of the country’s largest industries, according to experts.
Sri Lanka has been wracked with poverty, inflation and fuel shortages on a massive scale, with the Prime Minister declaring Tuesday that the country has gone “bankrupt,” according to Business Insider. A ban on chemical fertilizers, implemented April 2021 in an effort to promote organic farming, proved the final straw after a string of missteps, decimating Sri Lanka’s primary source of income and forcing it into bankruptcy, experts told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

THIS IS SURELY A MYSTERY. I clearly remember being told in sex ed class in grade nine that babies can only be created by one man and one woman. But now we have a case of a transgender woman (who, I’m told, is a real woman) having sex with a regular woman (making them lesbians) and the result was baby, but lesbians having sex can’t make babies. A California teen girl who once identified as transgender and took hormones and underwent surgery to affirm such an identity spoke out in favor of a Florida rule blocking Medicaid funds from paying for medical interventions for gender dysphoria.
"I really didn’t understand all of the ramifications of any of the medical decisions that I was making," Chloe Cole, 17, said at a public hearing Friday. She said she was medically transitioned from ages 13 to 16, taking so-called puberty-blocking drugs and testosterone, and undergoing surgery to remove her breasts at age 15. "I was unknowingly physically cutting off my true self from my body, irreversibly and painfully."
"I don’t know if I’ll be able to fully carry a child, and I might be at increased risk for certain cancers, mainly cervical cancer," Cole said in a separate private meeting with Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo Friday, footage of which Ladapo posted on Twitter Sunday. "And because I do not have my breasts, … I am not able to breastfeed whatever future children I have."

Audio recordings of the architect of the Holocaust boasting about his actions have been made public for the first time, 60 years after his execution for crimes against humanity.
Adolf Eichmann recorded 70 hours of interviews in Argentina, having fled to Buenos Aires after the war. The audio has remained under lock and key and is only being broadcast now thanks to the dogged efforts of a team of Israeli documentary makers.
They were given 15 hours of surviving recordings – the interviewer taped over much of the rest – in which Eichmann, who went to the gallows denying his crimes, admits to his role in what he infamously dubbed his ‘Final Solution.’
