The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (No. 18)

THE GOOD

I support Separation of Hospital and State for the same reason I support Separation of Church and State: “The Future of Medicine Is the Personal Option.” Same principle applies.

Hope springs eternal! “Percent Of Americans Wanting Government To ‘Leave Me Alone’ Up By Double Digits.”

This is way above my pay grade: “A Major Einstein Theory was Just Proven Right, 106 Years Later.”

THE BAD

Ordinary Americans mostly support the “Leave Us Alone” philosophy. The Ruling Class does not. “Dept. of Homeland Security Makes Official U.S. Government Announcement, ‘If You Question Govt COVID Response You are Considered a Domestic Violent Extremist.” It was the greatest nation in the history of the world until it wasn’t.

Yes. “Has the pandemic put property rights in the crosshairs?” Next Question.

Count me as NOT surprised: “Majority of registered Democratic voters now prefer socialism to capitalism, Fox News poll finds.” So much for the “Leave Us Alone” philosophy, at least for a certain demographic (e.g., upper-middle-class and college educated).

It’s “That 70s Show” all over again. Here it comes, as predicted. . . . “Wholesale prices soar 7.8% in the biggest surge on record as steel jumps 23% - adding pressure on companies to pass on higher costs to consumers.”  

Boycott American Express: “American Express Corp slammed for training employees that capitalism is 'racist'.”

The journalist, Erick Ericson, was temporarily suspended from Twitter for this Tweet. Question: Is this Tweet pro- or anti-science? What do you think?

Do you understand now why the Woke Warriors are opposed to “objectivity”? “American Medical Association, Descending Into Wokeness, Calls for Eliminating Sex on Birth Certificates.”

America’s public officials should be required to take a course on the Law of Unintended Consequences. “A Black Market in COVID-19 Vaccination Cards Was Inevitable.” Seriously, who couldn’t have predicted this?

Are ya havin’ a laugh yet? “Salon writer argues that there’s no such thing as left-wing authoritarianism.”

Inching toward totalitarianism one executive order at a time: “'Outrageous': Biden blasted over report of 'vaccine passport' for interstate travel.”

THE UGLY

The twenty-first century is not turning out how I thought it would. I think I will just leave this here without comment. Judge for yourself: “Man who raped his aged mother goes to women’s prison.” (Warning: link loads slowly.)

Is this a moral issue? I dunno. You tell me. And if YOU were the father, what would you do? “Court orders ‘Save James’ boy to stay with mother who says he’s a girl, gives father limited visitation.”

We have the worst Ruling Class in world history. The geniuses who run our country forgot to get all of our military hardware (e.g., guns, bombs, armored vehicles, and, yes, attack planes) out of Afghanistan before they turned the country over to the Taliban. From The Wall Street Journal:

Afghanistan’s military has laid down its weapons, and the Taliban have wasted little time in collecting them, raising concerns about how easily troves of U.S.-made arms, military aircraft and armored vehicles have fallen into enemy hands and the new capabilities they bring.

Scores of videos have emerged of Taliban fighters rejoicing near abandoned American helicopters, carrying U.S.-supplied M24 sniper rifles and M18 assault weapons, stacking other small arms and materiel in unending piles and driving Humvees and other U.S.-made military trucks.

The Taliban have seized airplanes, tanks and artillery from Afghan outposts and from evacuating U.S. personnel, revealing one of the heavier costs of a U.S. troop withdrawal amid a collapse of Afghanistan’s government and army.

They told me that when Donald Trump left the White House, the clown show would be over . . . and they were right. I’m relieved to know that the serious (and ya know, really smart) people are back in charge of America’s foreign policy. So glad these people are in charge of our withdrawal from Afghanistan:
